GA-14’s 3rd Annual Cancer Sucks Poker Run held April 29, 2023 at the Sunset Auction House, 149 Washington Rd, Thomson, GA. Please note that we conduct this poker run instead of holding an annual to build on our 3rd objective helping a veteran family in need.
This year we chose a 4 year old recipient, a fellow Eagle Nation Brother’s great nephew, suffering from a rare form of Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia.
Raffle tickets are still available for the main prize of a Recteq Grill tailgater’s package. Shipping will be covered by GA-14 anywhere in the continental United States. We will also have a bunch of other raffle prizes to include poker run winners.
This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. 100% of the proceeds will go to the recipient's family to help offset medical costs. The previous two Cancer Sucks Poker Run had a donation to the families of 10k each year. Our goal is to surpass that amount this year but we can only achieve this goal with all of your help. It's a great event with lots of laughs and a few tears. Don't miss this fantastic event for some brotherhood and good times.
We've been getting questions about hotels so here is a list that is very close to our event location. Don't forget that we'll be partying at Stiff Six's Open House on Friday, one of the best parties in the Nation, on Friday night before our ride the next morning!

Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in all four canonical Gospels.
In many Christian churches, Palm Sunday includes a procession of the assembled worshipers carrying palms, representing the palm branches the crowd scattered in front of Jesus as he rode into Jerusalem. The difficulty of procuring palms in unfavorable climates led to their substitution with branches of native trees, including box, yew, willow, and olive. The Sunday was often designated by the names of these trees, as in Yew Sunday, or by the general term Branch Sunday.
National Vietnam War Veterans Day is a US holiday observed annually on March 29. It recognizes veterans who served in the US military during the Vietnam War.
March 29 was chosen as National Vietnam War Veterans Day because on March 29, 1973, Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV) was disbanded and the last U.S. combat troops departed the Republic of Vietnam. The last unit was elements of MACV's Infantry Security Force (Special Guard), actually special couriers.
Good Friday is a religious holiday, observed primarily by Christians, commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. The holiday is observed during Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduum on the Friday preceding Easter Sunday, and may coincide with the Jewish observance of Passover. It is also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday, Black Friday, or Easter Friday, though the last term properly refers to the Friday in Easter week.
Easter, also called Pasch or Resurrection Sunday, is a festival and holiday celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred three days after his crucifixion by Romans at Calvary. It is the culmination of the Passion of Christ, preceded by Lent, a forty-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance.
Easter is a moveable feast, meaning it is not fixed in relation to the civil calendar. The First Council of Nicaea established the date of Easter as the first Sunday after the Paschal Full Moon, the full moon that occurs on or soonest after 21 March (taken to be the date of the equinox). Ecclesiastically, the equinox is thus reckoned to be on 21 March (although the astronomical equinox occurs on 20 March in most years), and the "Full Moon" is not necessarily on the astronomically correct date. The date of Easter therefore varies from 22 March to 25 April inclusive.
